Gambia unveil national volleyball coach, names squad African Games qualifiers

The Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF) have announced the appointment of Saikou Omar Bargie as head coach of the country’s men volleyball team ahead of the Zone II volleyball qualifiers for the 2019 African Games.

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) volleyball men’s team coach will lead the team under “non-contract basis” during the Zone II volleyball qualifiers for the 2019 African Games, which will be hosted in Banjul next month.

Bargie’s task, according to the Technical Director of the GVBF, Alagie Ceesay, is to secure qualification to the 12th edition of the African Games which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco, in August this year.

Bargie, who guided GAF to the volleyball league title in 2016, has named a provisional list of 18 home-based players whom he will begin training with on May 20th before they will be joined by four Qatar-based volleyballers.
