Gambia put final touches ahead of Youth Olympics Game

Buenos Aires 2018 is getting ready to host 206 National Olympic Committees (NOC) from October 6-18 that will have 4000 young athletes vying for spots on the podium. One NOC that earned a spot at the Argentine capital is Gambia. And that was thanks to their men’s beach volleyball pair.

Jahara Koita and Sheikh Colley, the young athletes from Gambia qualified for the Youth Olympic Games after a brilliant performance in Algeria.

They conceded only one defeat to Sierra Leone in their group and went unto to top the pool.

Once out of the group stage they went on to beat Morocco in the quarterfinal and lost to Mozambique in the semifinal.

However the pair went unto to beating Algeria in the third place playoff to earn Gambia’s first team sports slot in the Olympics.

The Gambia beach volleyball team is now expected to leave Banjul on October 3rd 2018.
