Gambia professional volleyball player Sainey Jawo on Monday lost 2-0 to Al-Khor Sports Club in the beach volleyball finals.

Jawo could only help his club Al-Sadd Sports Club to a silver medal in the 2017/2018 Qatar beach volleyball league.

Sainey came through the ranks of Serrekunda East volleyball club before moving to Senegal in 2015 where he played for Université Gaston Berger in Saint-Louis, Senegal.

The 17-year-old is a blocker and sometimes plays as a spike. He guided Université Gaston Berger to the league finals in his second year at the club.

“I am disappointed in the results, because I don’t believe in losing,” he said after the match.

Sainey Jawo is contracted with the Qatari volleyball club on a three-year deal.
