Volleyball Gambia leader congratulates champions

The acting president of the Gambia Volleyball Association Bai Dodou Jallow has congratulated Interior, champions of the national league for the first time EVER.

The National Volleyball League ended over the weekend with the Interior male team upstaging perennial rivals Gambia Armed Forces. However, it was business as usual for the GAF ladies team who retained the title for the 5th year running.

In a statement on Monday, Mr. Jallow said that his association is proud of the performance and representation of all clubs during the season.

“Congratulations to Interior male and GAF female teams on their massive victories. However, all the teams that participated in the championship are winners. Today, we should all be proud that we are part of this big progress/step in the development of volleyball in the country.”

“This year, the league has been even more interesting with very tight competitions all the way through.”

The volleyball leader also heaped praises on the level of discipline among players and officials describing it as “great.”

Mr. Jallow also noted the immense role of the volleyball community in ensuring the necessary support is provided and assist the players in their match preparations.

“The referees team did an excellent job too. Therefore, let me thank all stakeholders (Players, coaches, referees, organizers, media, fans etc.) on this progress. This is our biggest national competition and if we get it right then we can push forward more.”

“The game is still on as we turn our attention to the Knockout which starts after the Tobaski (Eid-ul-Adha) feast. Let me use this opportunity to wish everybody in the volleyball family a happy Tobaski in advance.”
