Amadou Jarju stars as Gamtel/Gamcel wins first beach volleyball title

Gamtel/Gamcel’s Amadou Jarju and Malick Jammeh on Sunday defeated GAF’s Alieu Barry and Ebrima Jatta 21-18, 21-19 to win their first gold medal for the club in the finals of the Gambia national beach volleyball championship played at Palma Rima beach.

The champions controlled the match and pulled away on the final points in each set to get the job done. This is a feat we may never see again out of a beach volleyball team. They were already the best beach team of all time but they just put a big exclamation point at the end.

Interior ladies win first Beach Volleyball title in grand style

Abie Kujabie and the Gambia Armed Forces women team won the women’s beach volleyball gold medal in the past two Gambia national championship but the sport crowned a new champion on Sunday after close rivals in Interior’s Fatoumatta Ceesay and Mariama Ginadou beat them in straight sets to win gold.

Kujabie and her partner Nyima Demba may have looked unbeatable when they eliminated Gamtel/Gamcel in the semifinals but Ceesay and Ginadou left little doubt on Sunday who the best team was at the championship.

Bai Dodou Jallow is new volleyball president

Bai Dodou Jallow has been elected as the new president of the Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF) at the association’s congress held at the BO Semega Janneh Hall at Serekunda East.

Jallow was elected unopposed after closest challenger Bankole Ahadzie, withdrew his candidature despite being nominated by the Kassa Kunda volleyball team.
