“Late preparations hinders Gambia’s qualification to major tournament” – Sohna

Gambia midfielder Ebrima Sohna who currently plays for Azerbaijani club Keşla FK has said that the major problem for the country not qualifying to any major tournament at senior level is due late preparation from football authorities.

He added that though the football authorities are doing their best, they should do more by making early preparations for the national teams.

Gambia set for 2019 Africa U-17 qualifiers in zone format

The Gambia’s Baby Scorpions are set to battle it out with Cape Verde, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone and defending champions Mali in the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, Gambia Sports can confirm.

The Baby Scorpions, who are pooled in WAFU zone A, will begin their qualifying campaign when it opens from September 9-18 in neighboring Senegal.

Kiang West FC Wins LRRFA League, Ascends To League Div 2

History was made on Sunday 8th July, 2018 as Kiang West Football Club became the first team from provincial Gambia to secure a place in the national league of the country.

Kiang West, a district made up of 33 villages, secured a place in the second division Gambian league for the 2018/19 season following a 3-0 annihilation of Jarra Central in the final played at Jarra Soma Mini Stadium at the end of the LRR Football Association Regional League.
