SJAG President Musa Sise elected into AIPS Africa Executive

Mr Musa Sise, President of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) has been elected into the executive committee of the Association of International Press Association (AIPS) Africa body.
 
Sise is currently in Brussels where he is attending the annual congress of the AIPS global body.

The Gambia to make maiden Football for Friendship appearance

The Gambia will be represented at the Football for Friendship tournament for the first time with the event set to take place in Russia from June 8-15.

The tournament, which targets young footballers at the age of 12, aims at fostering social values discipline, tolerance; respect for others culture and also give principles of equality among children from all works of live.

Gambia crowned WAFU champions

The Gambia National U-20 Team (Young Scorpions) are crowned Champions of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) tournament when they beat tournament hosts Liberia 2-1 at the final played on Saturday May 5th at the Samuel Kayon Doe Stadium in Monrovia.
 
The Young Scorpions took off a bright start with a leading goal Adama Jammeh in the opening minutes of the game which continued until the second half resumption when Liberia pulled one back to equal the scoring. The Gambia could not cool off as Mattar Mboge and his charges piled pressure on their opponents and earned additional scoring from play maker Abdoulie Sarr to seal victory for the Young Scorpions.

Coach Sallah demands Commonwealth games allowance payment

The manager and one of the two coaches for the Gambia Athletics team that participated at the 2018 Commonwealth Games that ended in Australia has called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to pay their allowances.

Since the team returned from the Australian coastal city of Gold Coast two weeks ago, they’ve been waiting on the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the leadership of Henry Gomez to be paid their allowances which was promised to them before their departure and participation during the games.
