Gaita FC wins Barrow’s Late Wonto Memorial football tournament

Gaita Football Club from Brusubi were on Saturday crowned champions of the Late Wonto Memorial football tournament after beating Abuko United through Patrick Sylva’s early strike in the first half.

The games for the tournament were played at the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium and was staged by Gambia and Reading FC Modou Secka Barrow, who organized it in honor of his later mother, Wonto Saidy.

Raymond Mendy joins Swedish side Skellefteå FF

Gambian forward Raymond Mendy has penned the dotted lines for Swedish third-tier club Skellefteå FF until the end of the season, Gambia Sports can confirm.

The 22-year-old joined the Division 1 side after a brief trial leaving a positive impression on coach Dan Burlin who gave his go ahead for a contract to be tabled in front of the Gambian.

Sanneh’s Midtjylland know Champions League opponents

Gambia defender Bubacarr Sanneh’s FC Midtjylland will open their 2018/19 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round campaign with a trip to either the winner between FC Astana and FK Sutjeska Nikšić.

The Scorpions’ team will meet the winner between Montenegrin champions Sutjeska Nikšić and Kazakhstan Premier League winners Astana who face off in the first qualifying round with the winner facing the Danish champions.
