Jatta returns home after successful OB trial

Gambia U20 midfielder Alfusainey Jatta has returned home after impressing Danish club OB Odense during a two-week trial.

Jatta, dubbed Pogba, travelled to Denmark earlier this month where he had spent the past few weeks with the three-time Danish League champions and made two appearances in the club’s reserve league wins over BK Marienlyst and Esbjerg fB respectively.

Papa Gassama up for a fourth CAF award

Gambia and Africa’s best Bakary Papa Gassama is up for a fourth consecutive CAF Referee of the Year award after his nomination by the Confederation of African Football on Monday.

Gassama, who has won the awards for the past three editions, is nominated alongside Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia), Ghead Grisha (Egypt), Janny Sikazwe (Zambia), Malang Diedhiou (Senegal) and Mehdi Abid Charef (Algeria).

Gambia and Africa’s best Bakary Papa Gassama has spoken to Gambia Sports after his nomination for a fourth consecutive CAF Referee of the Year award by the Confederation of African Football. 

Gassama, who has won the awards for the past three editions, is nominated alongside Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia), Ghead Grisha (Egypt), Janny Sikazwe (Zambia), Malang Diedhiou (Senegal) and Mehdi Abid Charef (Algeria).

Sainey Nyassi leaves FC Edmonton

Gambia international Sainey Nyassi has left FC Edmonton after the end of the 2017 North American Soccer League (NASL) season, Gambia Sports can report.

The 28-year-old Scorpion winger leaves Edmonton after a disappointing campaign that saw the club finish seventh on the standings with fourteen points after sixteen matches with the Gambian netting only twice.
