Janneh continues scoring spree

Gambian striker Saikou Janneh continued his goal scoring spree by guiding Torquay United to a 2-1 win over Dulwich Hamlet at the weekend.

The 18-year-old, currently on loan at the English sixth-tier side, scored the winning goal for Torquay who secured their fifth consecutive victory to extend their lead to the top of the table with 36 points after 19 outings.

CAF Club Competition: Cape Verdean referees for Gamtel and GAF matches

A panel of referees from neighbouring Cape Verde have been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to handle the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup return leg matches of Gamtel and The Gambia Armed Forces respectively.

Gamtel’s return leg match on Wednesday at the Independence Stadium will see Cape Verdean referee Fabricio Duarte take charge of the affairs before being assisted by his compatriots Delgado Fernandes Wilson Jorge and Luis Fernandes Barbosa.

Gambia soar in FIFA rankings

The Gambia is the biggest mover by points in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings released by the world football governing body for the month of November.

The country, which occupied position 173 in the October rankings, moved seven places up to lie 166 in the world and 48 in Africa on the latest rankings.

Mo Barrow salvages draw for Reading

Gambia international winger Modou Barrow denied Stoke City victory as his 94th-minute equaliser secured a 2-2 home draw for struggling Reading in an entertaining match at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

Reading made the breakthrough in the 42nd minute but Stoke improved after a sluggish first-half display equalising in the 48th-minute.
