Papa to officiate Champions League final

Gambia’s Bakary Papa Gassama will officiate the 2019 CAF Champions League final between Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Wydad Casablanca on Friday night.

The 40-year-old, who is among 27 central referees that have been lined up for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off on June 21 in Egypt, will be assisted by Senegalese duo Djibril Camara and El Hadji Malick Samba at the Stade Olympique de Radès.

Scorpions midfielder Hamza Barry officially racked up a century of appearances for Croatian side HNK Hajduk Split.

Gambia draws Ghana in WAFU Cup of Nations

The Gambia have been drawn with defending champions Ghana in the opening match at the 2019 edition of the WAFU Cup of Nations in neighbouring Senegal this September.

The tournament will run from September 28 to October 13 with all matches taking place at the Stade Lat Dior in the beautiful city of Thies.

Barrow’s Atalanta seals Champions League qualification

Gambia striker Musa Barrow’s Atalanta have qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history after a 3-1 win over Sassuolo on the final Italian Serie A match-day.

The Scorpions international watched from the sidelines as Atalanta came from a goal down to win 3-1 at home and finish the season with 69 points, ahead of Inter Milan on their head-to-head record.
