Hamza Barry out injured until the New Year

Gambia international Hamza Barry is set to be out of action until the New Year after sustaining a knee injury while playing for Croatian side HNK Hajduk Split.

The 24-year-old was injured in Hajduk’s 2-0 home loss to NK Osijek in week 10 of the Croatian top-flight league.

Manneh gets season underway

Gambia youngster Alasana Manneh got his season in Bulgaria underway by opening his scoring account in SFC Etar Veliko Tarnovo’s 3-0 home win over PFC Slavia Sofia.

The 20-year-old Scorpions forward, currently on loan with Etar, doubled the home side’s lead in the 77th minute before putting the icing on the cake a minute from time.

Ceesay’s brace guides Zürich to Cup victory

In-form Scorpions striker Assan Ceesay scored twice to hand his club a 3-2 win at Red Star in the Zürich Cup derby on Wednesday.

The Gambia international, who’s found playing time hard to come by in the league, capitalised on his limited opportunities to pounce on his first start in the Swiss Cup as FC Zürich begin the defence of their title.

Savage nets first Honka goal

Scorpions winger Demba Savage scored his first goal since returning to the Finnish Veikkausliiga guiding FC Honka to a 3-1 home win over Vaasan Palloseura in the season finale at the weekend.

The 30-year-old, who re-joined Honka in July, was one of six players whose contract was ended by Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor after securing them promotion to the Turkish top-tier.
