Chelsea, Spurs and other Euro clubs target Barrow

English giants Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have joined Inter Milan, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Atalanta’s Gambian youngster Musa Barrow.

The 19-year-old Gambian, who has been on the books of Atalanta since 2016, is attracting interest from a cluster of top clubs, according to various media reports.

Left-back Pa Momodou Konate has dumped the Gambia after switching allegiance to represent Guinea Conakry at senior national team level, Gambia Sports can confirm.

The 24-year-old, currently on the books of Serie A club SPAL, represented Sweden at youth level up to U23, but has now chosen to play for the Syli Nationale after failing to get any serious approaches from the Gambia.

The Gambia has a cause to celebrate the success of The Gambia U-20 team at the just ended WAFU tournament against big football nations like Senegal and Ivory Coast, according to President Adama Barrow.

Barrow said no Gambian was prouder than him after the U-20 success. The team returned home last weekend after winning the 2018 WAFU sub-regional tournament after defeating host Liberia 2-1 in the final in Monrovia.
