Gambian referee Jallow banned for ten years

Gambia and FIFA assistant referee Ebrima Jallow has been banned from all football activities for ten years by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after being caught on camera by Ghanaian undercover journalist Anas Aremayaw Anas accepting a “money gift”.

Jallow was suspended after a media sting exposed him accepting a $500 bribe to inflict Ghana’s match against Mali at the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations.

Scorpions-eligible Saidy Janko joins FC Porto

Portuguese champions FC Porto have secured the signature of Gambian right-back Saidy Janko on a four-year deal from French side AS Saint-Étienne.

The defender, still eligible for the Scorpions, was sold to Saint-Étienne in 2017 by Celtic and his fine form in France earned him a move to the European giants.

Musa Barrow up for Golden Boy award

Gambia youngster Musa Barrow has been included on the 100-strong longlist for the 2018 Golden Boy award run by Italian publication Tuttosport and awarded by European journalists to the best footballer under the age of 21 playing in Europe.
 
The 19-year-old, who is subject to transfer interest from Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Chelsea, Lazio and others, will have to contest for the award with Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Reiss Nelson (Arsenal), Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) and Matthijs De Ligt (Ajax).
