Alassana Jatta nets on Paide debut

Gambian striker Alassana Jatta opened his professional career with a goal on his debut as Paide Linnameeskond beat defending Estonian champions Nõmme Kalju FC 2-0 on the opening day of the Meistriliiga on Saturday.

The 20-year-old, on loan from Gambian side Real de Banjul, struck a ferocious left-footed shot past Kalju keeper Pavel Londak to hand the visitors the lead in the 38th minute before a second goal in the 56th minute ensured they shocked the Estonian giants on the opening day.

Sports journalists in The Gambia under the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) have begun preparations for the 10th edition of the National Sport Awards Night and gala slated for 20th April, 2019.

The annual glamorous awards night is meant to celebrate and award past and present sports personalities that have done so much for the country.

Steve opens Al-Shabab scoring account

Gambia forward Bubacarr Trawally opened his goal scoring account for Al-Shabab Riyadh FC in their 2-1 win over Al-Faisaly FC at the weekend.

Steve, who completed his three-and-a-half-year move to the Saudi Pro League club last month, went four matches without finding the back of the net for Al-Shabab.

Steve explains failed Midtjylland move

Gambia forward Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally has confirmed he wanted to join FC Midtjylland on January’s transfer deadline day but insists he’s happy to play for Al-Shabab FC Riyadh.

The 24-year-old could have joined the Danish champions before penning a deal in Saudi Arabia but reveals the move to Midtjylland failed after Vejle Boldklub, the club who had his rights, rejected their €2m bid for him.
