The contribution sport can make towards peace-building efforts has generally been considered at the grassroots and nation state levels.

At the grassroots or community level, sport can be seen to provide a useful way of creating an environment in which people can come together to: work towards the same goal, show respect for others and share space and equipment.

Nda Jagne nets first Zürich goal

Gambia’s utility player Pa Modou Jagne scored his first goal for FC Zürich in their 3-0 home win over bottom Swiss Super League side FC Lugano.

The 27-year-old, who moved from FC Sion to the capital city club in June, was introduced in the 83rd minute by coach Ulrich Forte before extending Zürich’s lead six minutes later.

Sports Minister Gomez issues yellow card to GFF ExCo

The Minister of Youth and Sports Henry Gomez has issued a yellow card to the Lamin Kaba Bajo-led executive of The Gambia Football Federation.

Gomez warned the GFF to deliver up to expectation or prevail the way for others to come in. The relationship between the minister and the GFF has not been a good one with many suspecting that the Minister is planning to dissolve the current GFF executive.

Jallow and Njie’s Dynamo crowned Seychelles FA Cup champions

Gambian duo Modou Jallow and Musa Njie have won the 2017 Seychelles FA Cup with Northern Dynamo who secured a 2-1 victory over league winners St Louis.

The match, played at the 10,000-capacity Stade Linité in Victoria on Saturday afternoon, was attended by a very large crowd who witnessed the final of the FA Cup, also known as the Airtel Cup.
