TD Sang Ndong to coach Scorpions against Central Africa Republic

Scorpions’ coach-turned-Technical Director of the Gambia Football Federation, Sang Ndong will continue to guide Gambia until his permanent replacement is appointed, Gambia Sports’ Alieu Ceesay has gathered.

Gambia’s senior national football team will make a home return with a FIFA friendly international match against Central African Republic (CAR) on Friday 23 March, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, as part of preparations for the Cameroon 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Marseille target Yusupha Njie

French club Olympique de Marseille want to sign Gambia international Yusupha Njie, according to Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola.

Marseille meanwhile face stiff competition from fellow French top flight side FC Nantes, Spanish club Real Betis and Italian side Atalanta for the services of the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £270,000.

Barrow nets as Reading winless home streak goes on

Gambia forward Modou Barrow scored his ninth goal of the campaign for Championship strugglers Reading who were held to a 1-1 draw by Bolton Wanderers at Madejski Stadium to extend their winless home streak to eight games on Tuesday evening.

Reading, now without a win in eight home matches, went ahead shortly after the half-hour mark through Mo Barrow. The Scorpions wideman made a brilliant solo run to finish from the left wing but Bolton drew level just before the interval.
