Togo brushes aside Gambia’s claim of player eligibility

The Fédération Togolaise de Football (FTF) has debunked the Gambia’s claims that Adewale James Olufade is ineligible to play for the Sparrowhawks.

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), last week protested to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over Togo’s use of the defender when the two sides met in Lomé.

Scorpions gaffer Saintfiet blame players for defeat

Gambia coach Tom Saintfiet has blamed his players introduced in the second period and questioned their commitment during the Scorpions’ 1-0 home defeat to Togo in the the return leg fixture of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match on Tuesday.

The Scorpions were left reeling for missed opportunities against visiting Togo who secured a victory thanks to a goal from Fulham attacker Floyd Ayité who’s shot beat net-minder Alhagie Modou Jobe to reignite the Sparrow Hawks’ hopes of reaching next year's showpiece and leaving the Scorpions to lick their wounds.

Sise re-elected unopposed as SJAG President

Incumbent President Musa Sise has been re-elected President of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) by members of the association at an elective congress on Saturday, 20th October 2018.
 
Sports journalists gathered at the Independence Stadium Board Room in Bakau to elect a new executive that will steer the affairs of the sports journalism body for the next four years. This is in fulfilment of the association’s Constitution.
