Dibba nets in Shenxin loss

Gambia forward Pa Amat Dibba was on the losing end at the weekend despite scoring in Shanghai Shenxin’s 4-2 home loss against Guangdong Southern Tigers.

Dibba, who scored his first Shenxin goal last month, levelled the scores at 2-2 as the home side trail but two second half goals from the visitors ensured they suffer their second successive defeat.

Sanneh’s game with Anderlecht called off

The Belgian top-flight match between Standard Liège and Scorpions defender Bubacarr Sanneh’s Anderlecht was abandoned on Friday with just half an hour played after the visiting fans threw flares and smoke bombs onto the pitch.

The home side were leading 2-0 at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Liège when the referee abandoned the match after 32 minutes with the players already been forced from the field twice before.

Touray nets as Salford push for promotion

Scorpions left-back Ibou Touray was on the scoring sheet for Salford City who continued their push for the National League (fifth-tier) title with a decisive 3-0 victory over Maidenhead United at the weekend.

The 24-year-old, who starred in the Gambia’s 1-1 draw in Algeria in the final round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last month, extended Salford’s lead after 27 minutes before Adam Rooney’s goal established a comfortable 3-0 interval lead.

Senegalese High Commissioner lauds SJAG and ANPS partnership

Senegalese High Commissioner to The Gambia, His Excellency Salif Njie, has lauded the cordial friendship between the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) and the Association Nationale de la Presse Sportive du Sénégal (ANPS).

A high-powered delegation, comprising the Senegalese Sports Minister Matarr Ba, Senegalese national team coach Aliou Cisse, ex-international Henry Camara and Senegalese sports journalists are due in Banjul on Friday on the invitation of SJAG for the 10th National Sports Award slated for Saturday, 20th April, at the Coco Ocean Hotel.
