Jatta nets winner in win over Roskilde

Gambian striker Alassana Jatta scored the winning goal for Viborg FF who secured a 2-0 win at compatriot Dawda Ngum’s FC Roskilde in the Danish 1st Division at the weekend.

The 20-year-old, signed on a four-year contract from Estonian side Paide Linnameeskond in August, started his second consecutive league game for Viborg who went ahead through Christian Sivebæk’s converted penalty after four minutes.

The talismanic forward stepped up nine minutes later to to put what was the icing on the cake for Viborg for his second league goal for the club after five matches to the delight of his manager.

"Jatta is a player who can cover several positions while also boosting the competition. We have some flexible players, and with Jatta in now, it gives us more ways to mix the pieces. He is a player with a really good physique and very athletic. He has good speed, is good one on one, good in the field, kicks with both legs and at the same time he has a good look for the game," Jacob Neestrup said.

He added: "As a person, we also got a really good impression as he is a happy boy who is very grateful to be here and with his fine English, he is also easy to integrate into the squad when we all make an effort to help him."

The result moves Viborg up to third with a game in hand while Ngum, who was left on the bench, lies at the bottom of the table with Roskilde.
