The GFF League Division One will welcome new faces at next season’s domestic competition as Waa Banjul and Sporting Real both secured promotion from the country’s second-tier league.

Waa Banjul and Sporting Real FC are the new comers to be promoted to the country’s top-tier with a game to go following their latest wins.

League leaders Waa Banjul thrashed Gunjur United 4-0 while second-placed Sporting Real overcame Jam City 3-2 to join the Banjul-based youth side in the top-flight next season. Both teams are levelled on 60 points, eight points adrift of third place Team Rhino FC who also accumulated 52 points in 29 matches with one game to spare.

Waa Banjul remained at the summit with a superior goal difference and will be guaranteed as Champions if they beat Immigration FC in their final game of the season.

Sporting Real over the weekend beat Kiang West but are still less in goals with 26 compared to Waa Banjul’s 33.

Both teams will be satisfied with whatever happens in their final games. Their promotions to League One will serve as a litmus test in their history for the first time after a short spell in League Two and a rapid period for Sporting Real FC who were last year Champions from the Banjul Regional 3rd Division.
