Morecambe extend Jagne deal

Gambian midfielder Lamin Jagne will stay on at Morecambe FC after the English League Two club extended his contract for another year, Gambia Sports can reveal.

The 21-year-old, who joined Morecambe on a free transfer after leaving the U18s of Championship club Preston North End last season, has impressed the coaching staff at the fourth-tier side, who have now decided to activate his one-year extension option.

“We have offered him a new deal and also to a large chunk of our squad as it would be great to keep as many of them as possible with us. There is a fantastic bond there at the moment and I think he will only continue to improve - hopefully with us,’’ Morecambe gaffer Jim Bentley said.

Jagne, born in England but eligible for the Scorpions, has made four appearances this season for Morecambe who finished 18th in the 24-team League Two table.
