Marreh secures point for Eupen

Gambia midfielder Sulayman Marreh scored his first goal of the season for KAS Eupen who secured a 2-2 draw at Sint-Truiden in the UEFA Europa League Play-Offs in Belgium.

The 23-year-old, who turned his loan from English Premier League club Watford to Eupen permanent in March, salvaged a point for the visitors who were on the losing end.

He will now hope to finish the season on a high when they travel to face Sporting Charleroi in the final game of the season on Saturday.

Elsewhere in Belgium, Scorpions defender Bubacarr Sanneh was given his first start after six months in Anderlecht’s 1-1 draw at Royal Antwerp.

Sanneh has been resigned to a role on the bench after the return of Kara Mbodji who has been the manager’s preferred choice in defence.

But a change in fortune meant the Senegal international had to be ruled out for the trip to Antwerp, which availed The Gambia international the chance to put up a strong performance in the match.

He will be hoping to maintain his place in the starting lineup when Anderlecht hosts K.R.C. Genk on Thursday.
