Touray’s Salford book Wembley date with shootout win

Scorpions left-back Ibou Touray and Salford City are one match away from reaching the Football League for the very first time in their history following a dramatic National League playoff semi-final win over Eastleigh FC.

The Gambia international played the entire match before scoring the winning spot-kick in a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout win to send them to Wembley.

A third place finish saw the club miss out on automatic promotion but the May 11th final will see Salford get second chance to go up against AFC Fylde for a chance to be promoted to League Two.

Salford, who have been co-owned by former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt since 2014, finished two places and four points ahead of Fylde in the regular season.

They are chasing a remarkable fourth promotion in five seasons following the 2014 takeover by the ‘Class of 92‘ Red Devils legends.
