Red Scorpions crowned women league champions

Red Scorpions have been crowned champions of the Gambia women’s First Division league after their goalless draw against The Gambia Armed Forces marked the end of the women’s top flight season.

The Jeshwang-based outfit, who wrapped up the league campaign weeks ago, didn’t end the season on a high as they were held by a resilient Armed Forces side at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

But that didn’t stop them from celebrating at the end of the final whistle as the match turned out to be a formality and as champions, they went home with an amount of D150,000 ($3000) including a trophy and medals.

Interior FC were rewarded for finishing second with an amount of D100,000 ($2000) while third-placed Abuko United also received an amount of D50,000 ($1000).
