Kandji completes Iran move

Scorpions-eligible Macoumba Kandji has signed a short-term deal with Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League side Sanat Naft Abadan FC, Gambia Sports can report.

The 33-year-old, born to a Gambian parent, joined Sanat on a free transfer after leaving Finnish side FC Honka where he scored 16 goals last season.

Kanji’s deal with Honka Espoo, whom he single-handedly dragged to joint-third place in the Veikkausliiga last season, elapsed in December, thereby allowing him to seal a move away on a free.

Sanat Naft are currently 12th on the 16-team Iranian Premier League table with 20 points after 21 outings.

The former New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids, Houston Dynamo and HJK Helsinki striker has been signed by the Iranian Brazil to help them steer away from relegation.
