Sowe scores as CSKA return to winning ways

Gambia striker Ali Sowe netted for CSKA Sofia in their 2-1 win over POFC Botev Vratsa in the Bulgarian top-flight league on Tuesday at the Balgarska Armia Stadium.

The Army-men went into the game with the aim of bouncing back from their shock 2-0 defeat against Cherno More Varna in the first league game of 2019.

Following a cagey first half, the hosts shot into the lead on the 48th minute through Ghanaian Edwin Gyasi who perfectly struck a low shot before Scorpions international Sowe put the game beyond the visitors’ reach with his bullet strike on the 56th minute.

The 24-year-old, who turned his loan from Chievo Verona into a permanent stay, enjoyed full throttle as Sofia consolidated their second position with 48 points after 22 matches.

He has scored 4 goals in 13 appearances for the club.
