Sawaneh quits Belgium for Luxembourg deal

Gambia striker Ibou Sawaneh has left Belgian league football to pen a deal with Luxembourg top-tier side Union Titus Pétange.

The veteran Scorpions forward, who was a free agent after quitting Belgian second-tier side AFC Tubize where he endured difficult times, moved to the Pétange-based club in a bid to revive his career which has stalled since last April.

The 32-year-old had a trial with Lierse Kempenzonen in November but the Belgian First Amateur Division club passed on the decision to sign him.

Sawaneh, who was once a sort after talent in 2012 attracting interest from St Etienne, Bayer Leverkusen and other top European clubs, will now use the short-term move to Luxembourg to revive his career.

Titus Pétange currently lie 7th on the 14-team Luxembourg National Division with 18 points after 13 outings.
