Sanneh wins Sports Personality at Wah Sa Halat awards

Scorpions defender Bubacarr Sanneh was awarded the Sports Personality of the Year at the fourth edition of the Wah Sa Halat Awards held at the weekend.

The 24-year-old tipped Gambia captain Pa Modou Jagne, striker Adama Jammeh and wrestlers Leket Bu Bara and Hoyantan to the gong.

Sanneh, who completed an €8m move to Anderlecht and became the most expensive defender in Belgian league history, became favourite after guiding FC Midtjylland to its second league title last season.

He tweeted his delight: “Great honour and delight to be awarded the Gambia’s Sports Personality of the Year at the 4th edition of the Wah Sa Halat Awards. I’ll like to dedicate this award to the FANS who’ve been there for me throughout the years - THANK YOU!”

The Wah Sa Halat awards was organised by Ya Sally Njie, CEO of Brand Plus, and is meant to compliment the efforts of Gambian musicians and people taking the country’s name to another level.
