Sowe nets twice in win over Plovdiv

Scorpions striker Ali Sowe scored a brace at the weekend for CSKA Sofia who cruised to a 2-1 win over Botev Plovdiv.

The blizzard conditions proved highly beneficial to CSKA Sofia, who claimed the victory thanks directly to the poor condition at the Balgarska Armia Stadium in Sofia.

The on-loan Chievo Verona attacker converted an effort after 14 minutes before wrapping up the match moments later in intriguing fashion.

As the ball was squared across the box, the cross took an incredibly fortunate divot off a lump of ice, diverted past a Plovdiv defender and directly into the path of the former Gamtel striker.

The Gambian duly obliged by stooping to head home from close range, thus wrapping up his brace in what could be described as a snow to Sowe goal in classic, age-old combination.

It was Sowe’s third goal for CSKA who now lie second on the standings heading into the winter break.
