CAF Club Competition: Cape Verdean referees for Gamtel and GAF matches

A panel of referees from neighbouring Cape Verde have been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to handle the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup return leg matches of Gamtel and The Gambia Armed Forces respectively.

Gamtel’s return leg match on Wednesday at the Independence Stadium will see Cape Verdean referee Fabricio Duarte take charge of the affairs before being assisted by his compatriots Delgado Fernandes Wilson Jorge and Luis Fernandes Barbosa.

League champions Gamtel secured a 0-0 draw against CS Constantine in Algeria in the first leg of their CAF Champions League last week and they have to win in order to sail through to the next round.

Meanwhile, The Gambia Armed Forces’ return leg against Ivorian side FC San Pédro on Tuesday in the CAF Confederations Cup will see Delgado Rocha Lenine take centre stage and assisted by fellow countrymen Jorge Correia Semedo Helio and Jorge Santos Fonseca Aritson.

Armed Forces were held to a 1-1 draw in Ivory Coast last week but couldn’t hold on to their lead as the hosts levelled three minutes from time.

They either need to win or maintain a goalless score to progress to the next stage of the qualifiers.

Both matches kick off at 16:00 GMT (4pm) on Tuesday (GAF) and Wednesday (Gamtel) respectively.
