Pa Sulay Njie secures Turkey move

Former Gambia U20 forward Pa Sulay Njie has secured a move to Turkish TFF First League club Hatayspor, Gambia Sports can report.

The former youth prodigy was a free agent after leaving English side Cheltenham Town where his time wasn’t much fruitful after spending most of his time on the treatment table.

He came close to penning a deal with Danish side AC Horsens and Swedish club Motala AIF earlier this year but shunned the two clubs for Hatayspor, plying their trade in the second-tier of Turkish football.

The 26-year-old penned a one-year deal with Antakya-based club with an option to extend.

“I’m delighted to come to Turkey and sign for Hatayspor. I had offers before coming here but the project and ambition of the club in wanting to get promoted to the Süper Lig made me to come here,” Njie told Gambia Sports from his base in southern Turkey.

The former Stoke City youth player added: “It’s a good environment here, I have enjoyed it so far, the club is doing fine and I want to do well for them. I'm slowly recovering from my setbacks and I think the level here will help me get back up.”

Pa Sulay was one-time the most sought-after gem in English football in the 2006/07 season when he netted a decent amount of goals for both Hinckley United and Coventry City.

The winger, who can also play as a striker, is a player known for his good dribbling skills and ability to score goals.
