Foday Manneh joins Vejle

Gambian youngster Foday Manneh has joined Danish Superliga side Vejle Boldklub from local club Real de Banjul.

The 18-year-old was in Denmark on trial in April after being recommended by Gambia international and Guizhou Hengfeng forward Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally.

He impressed the club’s coaching and management staff who have decided to dash out a one-year contract with an option to extend.

Gambia Sports meanwhile can confirm that he will join coach Steffen Kielstrup’s U19 team before being promoted to the club’s first team squad should he impress.

“We hope he will be so good that he can integrate into the first team squad. We know that with players from other cultures, there is an entertainment period on and off the pitch. By taking him in early, we can prepare him even better for life as a senior player at Vejle Boldklub’s first team,” talent manager Steen Thychosen said on the club’s official website.

“Foday is an offensive player covering most positions on the track. He showed an exciting potential and we look forward to working with him,” Thychosen added.

Manneh will be set for his debut with Vejle when they travel to face Esbjerg fB’s U19 at the Atletikstadion.
