Gambia hosts Algeria tomorrow

The Gambia will host Algeria in match day two of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Saturday.

The match, to be played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, will see the Scorpions, who are without a point in Group D, looking to sting the Desert Warriors who are atop the standings.

A win for the Scorpions will see the group set wide open while a defeat will dent their chances of securing a first AFCON appearance.

The Gambia’s new Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet will hope the inclusion of Atalanta youth prodigy Musa Barrow will hand him his first win as Scorpions gaffer.

Meanwhile, Algeria, who are under pressure to atone for failure to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup as well as the group stage exit from the 2017 AFCON, are headlined by Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez.

The match will be officiated by Tunisian Youssef Essrayri who will be assisted by compatriots Anouar Hmila and Yamen Malloulchi.

Kick-off time is billed for 16:30 GMT (4:30pm).
