Gambian First Division side Fortune FC have sent defender Sambujang Touray on trial to Danish champions FC Midtjylland, Gambia Sports can exclusively reveal.
The 18-year-old will spend the next fortnight with the U19 team of the two-time Danish league winners.
Touray netted four goals in 22 appearances in the recently-concluded First Division league.
“FC Midtjylland invited him over so they could see his qualities and if he will fit into their system,” Modoustic Sports PR, the player’s representatives, told Gambia Sports.
“Obviously, there was interest from other clubs in France and Denmark for him but we decided to send him to Midtjylland because they produce very good players but we will see what it leads to.”
FC Midtjylland Academy is the first Danish football academy based on the academy of French side FC Nantes.
The academy has developed players like Simon Kjær (Sevilla), Winston Reid (West Ham United), Erik Sviatchenko (Celtic) and Jonas Lössl (Huddersfield Town) amongst others.
