Yusupha Njie’s Reims deal off as Gambian reportedly fails medical

Yusupha Njie’s proposed move to promoted French Ligue 1 club Stade de Reims has been called off after the Gambia international failed his medical, according to L’Union.

The Scorpions international, who was pictured appearing to complete his move to Reims on Monday, apparently failed mandatory medical tests that has led to the French side pulling the plug on a potential move, according to the Reims-based tabloid.

The 24-year-old, as Gambia Sports reported on Tuesday, signed a four-year contract on the dotted lines from Portuguese side Boavista but it now appears to be cancelled.

Portuguese newspaper Maisfutebol meanwhile also claims that the move fell through after both clubs were unable to agree on the reported €2.5m transfer fee.

The former FUS de Rabat forward has now left France, understandably disappointed, to travel to Portugal to link up with the rest of his Boavista teammates for pre-season.

It is understood that French giants AS Monaco and Marseille are still interested in the services of the former Real de Banjul winger.

Njie, son of legendary Gambian footballer Alhaji Momodou Njie alias Biri-Biri, scored four goals in 17 appearances for the Portuguese club.
