“Late preparations hinders Gambia’s qualification to major tournament” – Sohna

Gambia midfielder Ebrima Sohna who currently plays for Azerbaijani club Keşla FK has said that the major problem for the country not qualifying to any major tournament at senior level is due late preparation from football authorities.

He added that though the football authorities are doing their best, they should do more by making early preparations for the national teams.

Sohna was speaking in an interview with Gambia Sports through Arfang M.S. Camara where he urged football authorities to prepare early for competitions.

“We need to have an early preparation and organize more international games during international window so that it can be easy for the players to know each other and the coaches to also get know and familiar with the players,” he said.

According to him, poor preparation hinders Gambia’s chances of qualifying to either the Africa Cup of Nations or World Cup.

The Scorpions are currently without a coach and the former VPS, Al-Arabi SC and Sandefjord player said that will continue affecting the players and the team, noting that appointing coaches earlier than expected, help national team preparations.

The Gambia will return to action when they face Algeria in September 2018 in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
