GAF scoops maiden Cup title

Players of the Gambia Armed Forces wrote history at the weekend as they scooped the club’s first-ever FA Cup title after a 4-3 win over Brikama United on Friday.

The last year’s League champions took the lead through captain Saikou Jatta in the 36th minute before the Sateba outfit leveled five minutes later.

The Khaki Boys extended their lead through goals from Jatta, Saikou Ceesay and Adama Jammeh, ensuring Salifu Saho and Sainey Bojang’s efforts were a mere consolation for Brikama United.

It is the first Cup triumph for GAF, who have won three League titles in 2003, 2009 and in the 2016/17 season respectively.

Armed Forces will now represent the Gambia in the qualifiers of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup.
