Two Gambian players in Vejle trial

Two Gambian youngsters in Modou Sohna and Foday Manneh are in Denmark for trials with 1st Division (second-tier) side Vejle Boldklub, Gambia Sports can reveal.

The duo, both players of local club Real de Banjul, were invited by the club after recommendation from Gambia international Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally.

Manneh, 18, joined Vejle’s U19 team on training while 17-year-old Sohna linked up with the club’s U18s though they’ve also on occasion, trained with the first-team.

“Modou and Foday are two interesting young football players from Gambia. We have gotten acquainted with them through our international network and now they train for a couple of weeks where they see how training and everyday life are structured in a Danish club. They both hold a fine level,” talent manager Steen Thychosen said on the club’s official website.

Vejle are currently joint-top on the 12-team Danish 1st Division league table with 46 points and are seven matches away from being promoted to the Danish top-flight.

They play their home matches at the 10,418-capacity Vejle Stadion, located in the southeast of Denmark.
