Assan Ceesay’s goal not enough as Chiasso lose again

Scorpions striker Assan Ceesay’s goal wasn’t enough for struggling FC Chiasso who suffered a 2-1 defeat at FC Schaffhausen in the Swiss second-tier.

The former Gamtel attacker returned from a two-match suspension after his sending off in Chiasso’s 4-1 defeat at FC Aarau on February 18.

Ceesay, fondly called Torres, jumped off the bench to hand the visitors the lead at Schaffhausen after 62 minutes but red cards to Samuel Delli Carri, Moussa Soumarè and goalkeeper Francesco Russo, saw the hosts net twice to condemn Chiasso to a fourth successive defeat.

The 23-year-old Scorpions front man, who joined Chiasso on a season-long loan deal from top-tier FC Lugano, has netted eight times in 21 appearances.
