IK Gauthiod snap up Sam Jammeh

Swedish club IK Gauthiod have completed the signing of Gambia international goalkeeper Sam Jammeh on a free transfer, Gambia Sports can reveal.

The 26-year-old Finland-born player dumps Säffle FF for their Division 2 (fourth-tier) rivals who are considered huge title favorites and tipped for promotion to the third-tier.

The Scorpions netminder set a record at Säffle where his brilliant performances saw him keep more than ten clean sheets despite the team falling short of promoting to Division 1.

“Sam is a guy with high ambitions and above all a really good person. We played with Säffle last season and Sam was really, really good that’s why we decided to sign him now and bring him to our team,” Klas Bohman, Gauthiod’s club boss, remarked.

The 1.86m tall keeper started his professional at his country of birth with FC Viikingit, Atlantis FC and FF Jaro before making a move to Sweden to join Ängebäck BK, IFK Sunne and Säffle FF respectively.

He attracted interest from teams in England and Sweden but no concrete interest was forthcoming and thus signing on the dotted lines for Gauthiod, a club based in the Västra Götaland County of Grästorp.
