Mo Barrow and Solomon Sambou scoop Player of The Month awards

Gambia international Modou Barrow has been voted Reading FC’s Player of the Month for the second time running after his brilliant performances has seen him become the club’s top scorer.

The Scorpions wideman scored four times in December and looked a constant threat whenever he managed to get on the ball – and that was enough to win 60% of the fans’ votes to win the Tilehurst End Player of the Month award for December.

Barrow, a former Premier League player with Swansea City, has won three Man of the match performances in the last six games he played with his attacking output a vital factor for Reading, who are currently on a slump to lie 18 on the Championship table with 28 points.

Meanwhile, Churchill’s Town-born Solomon Sambou has also been named as St Albans City’s player of the month.

Sambou has been a mainstay in the City side this season, anchoring the midfield with a series of impressive displays.

The English National League South (sixth-tier) side signed the Churchill’s Town-born player from Hayes & Yeading United.

The holding midfielder, who looks comfortable on the ball whilst his physical presence and determination helps him to break up opponents attacks, started his career at Fulham FC before being released in 2015 without making a first team appearance.

He was previously with Bedford Town before signing for Wealdstone FC during the 2016/2017 season.

He was dual-registered with Hayes & Yeading United and was a regular in their first team before signing for St Albans in March 2017.
