The Minister of Youth and Sports has a vision, which is to see The Gambia jointly host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with neighboring country, Senegal.

Minister Henry Gomez made this revelation in an interview on West Coast Radio's Sports File on Monday.

“Let us not say it is not possible. Everything is possible in the eyes of God, but until then we need to have the grassroots football in place, so that this grassroots footballers will be the players for 2025.”

“It can happen because there was a time when Senegal was facing the same crisis but they sacrificed, they sat all together, dialogue and discuss issues and today Senegal is not hiring a foreign coach,” he said in an interview with West Coast Radio.

He hopes to work closely with the authorities in Senegal and The Gambia Football Federation to make it happen.

The Gambia has never qualified to any AFCON tournament and when actualized, it will see the country play a maiden tournament if it fails to qualify before that.
