Barrow tops Reading scoring chart

Modou Barrow has continued his fine string of performances after the Gambia international scored two goals in quick succession as Reading FC picked up their second win on the spin with a thrilling 3-1 victory at Sunderland.

The Scorpions winger scored twice in the 68th and 71st minutes to follow up David Edwards’ opener eight minutes after half-time to secure Reading their first win at Sunderland since 2005.

Barrow, who joined Reading in the summer from Premier League club Swansea City, is the Royals’ top scorer with five goals in 17 appearances, clocking 1207 minutes in the process.

The Berkshire-based club, who finished third last season, are unbeaten in their past four games to climb to 14th and nine points off the top six on the Championship table.

They are a point behind Mustapha Carayol’s Nottingham Forest who lost their ground with a 4-2 defeat at Ipswich Town.
