Former Hawks and Stade de Mbour versatile defender Kabba Sambou has signed a one-year contract with Belgian second-tier side KVC Westerlo with an option to extend.
Kabba had a stint with Kosovo giants KF Trepça 89, where he was crowned league champion and named in the Team of the Week and Team of the Month respectively.
Kabba has always had his eyes on a potential move either to France or Belgium and one of his realistic dreams came true when he joined Westerlo.
“I feel really excited, it’s one step ahead and I will give all my best. The Belgian First Division is different from the Kosovo league. It’s a new challenge that’s why I moved to a new country and league,” he told Gambia Sports.
“I will meet competitors who are more experience than I am, but it’s all about bowing my head down and learn from them.”
Kabba has featured five times for the Scorpions of the Gambia and is said to be a potential player in coach Sang Ndong’s three-man defense.
