Buba Sanneh explains failed Midtjylland move

AC Horsens and Gambia defender Bubacarr Sanneh has confirmed he held talks with Danish side FC Midtjylland in the last days of the summer transfer window but personal terms led to a move falling through.

The Scorpions international insists he remains calm about his future at Horsens despite emerging as a target for Midtjylland on transfer deadline day with both clubs agreeing a €600,000 transfer fee.

The 22-year-old is no stranger to the media spotlight, having been strongly linked with moves to Belgian club Cercle Brugge and Danish sides Brøndby IF and FC Midtjylland.

But he has now lifted the lid on his failed move and says his focus is now on Horsens and guiding the club to achieve its goals for the season.

“The transfer window was a little bit complicated. I’m happy because I still have a contract with Horsens and I’m still happy to be here,” he told TV2 East Jutland.

“We did not agree on any of the conditions in the negotiations between me and Midtjylland. Both clubs agreed before me but I first talked to Midtjylland on Thursday.”

He added: “I do not reject anything. But everything has its time. There will be a time to negotiate a contract and a time to focus on the game and perform well.”

Sanneh is Horsens’ top goal scorer with two goals after eight appearances, clocking 720 minutes in the process.
