Hamza Barry to face Everton in UEFA Europa League

Scorpions midfielder Hamza Barry’s Croatian side Hajduk Split have been handed the tough UEFA Europa League qualifying task of meeting English Premier League club Everton to reach the group phase.

The Gambia international and his team will travel to Goodison Park for the first leg of the tie on August 17 before hosting a side featuring former England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at their 35,000-capacity Stadion Poljud on August 24.

The Split-based side qualified by securing a 2-0 aggregate win over Danish club Brøndby IF in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the competition.

Hajduk have not fared well in England in the past, losing six and drawing one of their seven visits to the country, which bodes well for the Premier League club.

Should Hamza and his team overcome Everton, they will become one of the 22 play-off winners into the Europa League group phase.
