Sounders sign Gambian youngster

The reserve side of Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders have announced the signing of Gambia U20 defender Modou Ndow on loan from Czech third-tier club MFK Vyškov.

The 18-year-old, who joined the Czech side on New Year’s Day from Gambian league giants, Wallidan, will stay at the second-tier American club until November 2019.

UK-based Gambian coach aims to develop grassroots football

Gambian coach Edrissa Sallah has expressed his intention to contribute his quota towards the development of grassroots football in the country after staging an U-12 and U-15 football tournament.

The UK-based Gambian coach was speaking in an interview with reporters over the weekend at the KG5 Mini-Stadium in Banjul, during the final of his U-15 football tournament named after the Alagie Housainou M.M. Njai.

Sanneh happy to embrace competition

Gambia defender Bubacarr Sanneh says he relishes the competition for places at Anderlecht after the return of Senegal defender Kara Mbodji to the Belgian club.

Sanneh, the most expensive defender in Belgium after his €8m move from Danish champions FC Midtjylland to Anderlecht has seen limited playing time for the struggling Belgian side who have appointed a new coach following the sacking of Hein Vanhaezebrouck last month.

Touray nets first Salford goal

Scorpions defender Ibou Touray has scored his first goal for Salford City in their 3-2 defeat at Barrow at the weekend.

The 24-year-old, currently attracting interest from English League One club Shrewsbury Town, netted in what appeared to be a consolation for Salford, who lie second on the fifth-tier English league table with 55 points.
