PSG féminines take Adama Tamba on trial

The women’s team of French club Paris Saint-Germain have taken Gambia international and record top scorer Adama Tamba on a two-week trial.

Adama, who wrote her name in the annals of Gambian football by netting 50 goals in last season’s female top-flight league, will spend the next 14 days trying to impress Patrice Lair and his coaching staff, with the hope of securing a move to the 2015 UEFA Women’s Champions League finalists.

Football funding, voluntarism and claims in the Gambia

Organized football in The Gambia since times immemorial have been a voluntary or a very damning-pay as a trade to the players (stake holders) involved.

Alhagie OB Conateh (Wallidan FC) Late Ousainou Njie (Hawks FC), Ebou Ndure & co (second generation of Real de Banjul), Late Father Gough (Roots FC), Alhagie Gabi Sosseh (Mass Sosseh FC) just to name a few with their own personal resources were self-financing and self-sustaining their individual clubs and Gambian football in general for nearly three decades with Alhagie OB Conateh the longest serving, may Allah continue to give him good health and an extended longevity.

Steve nets another hat-trick

Gambia winger Bubacarr Trawally scored another hat-trick to cap a dramatic finale as Yanbian Funde were beaten 4-3 at Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League at the weekend.

Liu Jiang put the hosts in front after just 14 minutes but the Scorpion international levelled 17 minutes later when he slotted into the bottom corner after wrong-footing Liu.

Gambia stagnate on FIFA ranking

The Gambia remains unchanged on 164th position in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World ranking released for the month of October on Monday.

The Scorpions also stayed put on the African rankings to lie 50th on the continent with 120 points accumulated.
