North African refs for Gambia-Benin clash

The North African trio of Sadok Selmi, Attia Amsaad and Aymen Ismail are set to officiate Gambia’s return leg AFCON qualifier match against visiting Benin on Saturday at the Independence Stadium, Gambia Sports can report.

The match, set to kick off at 16:30 GMT in Bakau, will see Tunisian referee Sadok Selmi take charge of proceedings before being assisted by compatriot Aymen Ismail and Libyan Attia Amsaad.

Serekunda East on Monday booked their place to the final of this year’s Super Nawettan Zonal competition after defeating Banjul on Monday evening at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Benin unveil squad for Gambia clash

The Squirrels of Benin have announced their team to take on The Gambia on Saturday as the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations returns.

Key players including goalkeeper Fabien Farnolle, defender Khaled Adenon, strikers Mickael Poté and Steve Mounié, are included in the squad though they will have to do without captain Stéphane Sessègnon who is suspended after being sent off in their 1-0 win over visiting Algeria in October.

Spain return for Ousman Jarju

Gambia and former Atlético Madrid striker Ousman Jarju has returned to Spain to sign for Tercera División side Club Atlético de Pinto on a one-year contract, Gambia Sports can confirm.

The former Gambia U20 wonder-kidkid left Finnish third-tier club Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat (KTP) after scoring nine goals in 19 appearances last season to return to Spain where his career kicked off.
