Scorpions-eligible Kanté nets in Ligue 2

Gambian striker Aboubakary Kanté netted his first goal in the second-tier of French league football for Avenir Sportif Béziers who secured a 1-0 win at Troyes AC at the weekend.

Kanté, who goes by the moniker Booba, was handed a third consecutive start by gaffer Mathieu Chabert at the Stade de l’Aube and the Scorpions-eligible wasted no time in finding the back of the net in the 42nd minute after being setup by teammate Antoine Rabillard.

Ceesay’s brace not enough as Lugano held

Scorpions striker Assan Ceesay opened his 2018/2019 Swiss Super League goal scoring account in FC Lugano’s 2-2 home draw with Grasshopper Club Zürich on Saturday.

The 24-year-old returned to Lugano after his loan spell at second-tier side FC Chiasso and the former Gamtel attacker wasted no time in announcing his return after being given a second start by coach Guillermo Abascal.

Saloum joins IF Gnistan

Gambia winger Saloum Faal has left Finnish side FC Kiffen to join their Kakkonen rivals IF Gnistan until the end of the season in September.

The former Gambia Ports Authority forward joins the promotion-chasing side who were relegated from the Finnish second-tier last season.
