Gina Bass given title deed after winning gold

Gambian athlete Gina Bass has been given a title deed by President Adama Barrow after scooping gold in the 200m at the recently concluded 2019 All-Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco.

Bass upset defending champion Marie Josée Ta Lou in the 200m as she eased past the World Championships silver medallist to cross the line first in a new national record of 22.58 (1.8m/s).

GSA holds maiden regional Open Water Series Championship

The Gambia Swimming Association on Sunday kick started its regional open water series in Barra, North Bank Region.

The regional series championship is aimed at identifying young swimming talents in the regions. More than 25 swimmers of both male and female competed in the junior and senior categories respectively.

Saine shines in maiden national swimming championship

The Gambia’s only swimmer at the recently concluded youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Modou Lamin Saine, has outclassed his compatriots in the maiden national swimming championship held over the weekend.

Attended by parents and followers of the fast-growing sport in the country, The Gambia Swimming Association’s organised championship served as a test for more than 25 swimmers from various regions in the country.
